Calvin Johnson – $45 Million

Calvin Johnson is a retired American football wide receiver, who started playing at Georgia Tech. There, he was considered the greatest receiver of all time. He started playing professionally in 2007. Later on, he was nicknamed Megatron by Lions teammate Roy Williams. The nickname comes after a Transformers character, which caught on with fans. As his nickname implies, Johnson is known to have a lot of skills with a great combination of strength and speed, on top of incredible hand and eye coordination and body control. He announced his retirement in 2016 after nine seasons. He has an estimated net worth of $45 million. It would be a good idea to get insurance to secure his future.

Calvin Johnson retired at 30 years old after the 2015 season. Johnson felt he was getting older and acknowledged he had his “fair share” of concussions. Even if the Detroit Lions parted ways with Johnson and endured a cap hit, he still would have earned an opportunity to play elsewhere in 2016. Any hopes of Johnson ending retirement and returning to the Lions evaporated when the team made him return part of his signing bonus. Detroit ordered Johnson pay back at least $1 million of the $16 million signing bonus he received when he signed an eight-year extension in 2012.
